Plugins

The plugins around os-xgs-npu, each in a repository of its own and each installable on its own. A page for each says what it does, where it is in the menu, how it is installed and updated, and what is not tested yet.

Appliance hardware

  • Link Health · os-linkhealth

    Watches every physical port and names the cable or transceiver going bad by the label printed on the chassis.

  • Fan Control · os-fanctl

    Reads and records every temperature and fan of the appliance, and drives fans on a Super I/O chip that FreeBSD cannot control, handing them back to the hardware whenever anything goes wrong.

  • Front Panel · os-frontpanel

    Puts the firewall's own information on the LCD in the front of the appliance, through LCDproc, and gives the keys beside it something to do.

System

  • Hardware Watchdog · os-watchdog

    Arms the host's hardware watchdog, so a host that stops running is reset by its own hardware, and reads from the chipset why the host last reset.

  • Kernel Follower · os-kernelfollow

    Rebuilds an out-of-tree FreeBSD kernel module for the kernel an OPNsense update installs, before the reboot, so a driver from outside OPNsense's own repository is there on the next boot.

Protection

  • Block Lists · os-blocklists

    Address lists, countries, DNS lists and JA4 fingerprints of TLS clients, gathered into one page of block lists.

  • Port Guard · os-portguard

    Blocks a device by its MAC address at the firewall - the first part of layer 2 rules for the firewall's ports.

  • Fallback Crypto · os-fallbackcrypto

    Chooses which of the kernel's crypto drivers encrypts the IPsec tunnels the host carries itself - the ones a Sophos XGS's coprocessor does not take.

  • Network Report · os-netreport

    Mails a readable summary of the network on a schedule, with what needs attention at the top.

Language

  • Arabic Translation · opnsense-arabic

    A complete Arabic translation of the OPNsense web interface: 15,763 strings, the pages of the os-xgs-npu family's plugins among them.

  • Right-to-Left Layout · opnsense-rtl

    Lays the OPNsense GUI out right to left when its language is Arabic or Persian, and leaves every other language untouched.
