Release 0.1.0-alpha.11
A main release, urgent for every appliance: both drivers now give back memory the coprocessor was handed
only once it is known to have stopped with it (issue 962). octep stops each ring and waits
for it to go idle, keeps the output rings while the coprocessor that latched their addresses still runs, and
frees its management and command buffers once the far side has answered; npuep turns bus mastering off before
any of it goes back, where it did so last. octep's stop and detach refuse while a ring is still being serviced
instead of freeing under it, and no text the drivers build can run past its buffer any more. install/verify.sh
blames the front ports only when they are what failed, and the first boot after a factory reset gives MGMT back
(issue 957). The recovery of the coprocessor refuses to reset one the driver still reads
(issue 964). Measured on the old XGS 3300 (vendor version 23) and the XGS 136 (vendor version
21), OPNsense 26.7.8_1 (the teardown); not
yet run on an XGS 2100, 2300, 3100, 87, 107 or 126. The rest - code scanning of the drivers' C, a security page,
labels, a reminder and a thank-you on the issues - is about the repository and changes nothing on an appliance.
Fixes
- verify.sh blames front ports only when their chain failed, and MGMT comes back after a factory reset (#957) (#959)
- Drivers: a text cut short can no longer carry its offset past the buffer (#960)
- octep: stop and detach refuse while a ring is still being serviced, instead of freeing under it (#961)
- octep: a ring's memory goes back only once the coprocessor is known to have stopped with it (#962) (#963)
- npuep: bus mastering goes off before the coprocessor's memory goes back, not after (#962) (#965)
- recover.sh: refuse to reset a coprocessor the driver still reads (#964) (#966)
Improvements and additions
- Code scanning reads the drivers' C as well (#951)
- A monthly look at the links that leave the repository (#950)
- Security: how to check a download, and the OpenSSF Scorecard (#949)
- A thank-you, once, to each person whose first contribution lands (#953)
- A release tells each issue it fixes that the fix is out (#954)
- Labels by themselves, and one reminder that never closes (#955)
- A plugin's release pull request opens by itself once what it installs has changed (#956)
